BMW announces the new S1000RR Super Bike.
BMW has revealed the S1000RR at this years Paris Motorcycle show. BMW, known for their product technology and no compromise precision engineering, will compete in the World Superbike Championship in 2009 with a 1000cc four-cylinder machine. The engine is an inline-four, but with no radically canted cylinder bank and using a conventional exhaust system. The frame is the usual twin-spar aluminum unit, with a regular Ohlins GP telescopic fork up front and a standard-style twin-sided swingarm. A ride-by-wire throttle and traction control system is included in package.
BMW officials high expectations, in stating their intentions with this machine. They are not looking to just compete, but looking to win right from the start.
BMW Motorrad has announced that Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus will ride the all new BMW S1000 RR in next year's Superbike World Championship. Corser won the Superbike World Championship in 1996 and again in 2005. His 40 plus pole positions have earned him the nickname of "Mr Superpole".

BMW TO RACE IN 2009 SUPER BIKE
Watch the video with BMW Research and Development boss, Peter Muller, who discusses BMW's plan to enter World Superbikes with a new 1000cc four-cylinder motorcycle - which you'll also be able to purchase from BMW of Oklahoma.
BMW Inventory continues to be very tight.
While BMW had record production in the past few years, product imported into the North American markets was drastically cut since 2005. The depreciation of the US currency has diverted product supply into the European Union, South Africa, and the rest of the world since 2005.
Significantly fewer models are planned to be produced for the US market. In response to the weak US dollar vs the Euro and the strong world demand for the new products, there are simply fewer BMW products being imported into the US. Smaller volume retailers do not receive an allocation of many models and cannot order them. BMW's order system does not allow direct orders, even with a "customer sold" status.
As a customer, you cannot walk into a BMW Motorrad USA dealer and give them a certfied check and be guaranteed a BMW motorcycle of your choice. Unless your retailer obtains an allocation, you are simply out of luck.
As long as the Euro is a premium to the US dollar and world demand is strong, BMW AG will satisfy the European market first.
The Dainese Bluetooth Helmet has arrived!
The first integral helmet with integrated BlueTooth technology has arrived. This permits you to telephone while riding your motorcycle, talk to other riders / passengers, listen to music, etc. conditional on your mobile phone being equipped with BlueTooth.
The new system is a step into the future: fitted with Bluetooth technology, this helmet enables wireless communication between motorcyclists.
The system is not vehicle-based and is completely integrated in the helmet. It consists of a virtually invisible microphone, a digital signal processor (DSP) to filter interference and wind noise, a Bluetooth module, two speakers and an integrated set of batteries. Voices can be heard easily even at speeds of over 100 mph. Mobile phones with Bluetooth capability can be connected as well as Bluetooth devices, e.g. MP3 players.
